Day 1: Monday
8:00-9:30 am- Students attend a meeting in the hotel’s conference room. This meeting will be a lesson to learn about the different endangered species to try to find later on in the trip. The students are handed a guide that has different species of turtles to find and help and how to identify. This guide is attached to the itinerary.
10:00 am- 12:00 pm- A tour of the area is provided by the bus company. A tour guide will teach the students of the different animals living in places in the Florida Keys such as the mangrove forests, ponds, and coastal waters.
12:30- 3:30pm- The students will clean a local beach of all garbage that could be threatening to endangered turtles. We will ask the students to also keep a lookout for endangered turtles on the guide. The beach is a well known breeding site for turtles.
3:45- 5:30 pm- The group will go to a local animal hospital that specializes in nursing injured, endangered sea turtles back to health. A “meet and greet” with some of the species of turtles will be held there.
Day 2: Tuesday
8:00- 10:00 am- The day will start off with a lecture from an endangered sea turtle doctor, Liam Mitchell. Mitchell will then lead the students to his laboratory where he works on a cure for numerous pollution-driven illnesses that sea turtles struggle with.
10:30 am- 12:00 pm- This time will be used to describe and work on the main event of the day. The students will work on a stand that will be set up in the central area of a local town to raise money for endangered sea turtle research and medical supplies. Posters and flyers will be made for the cause.
1:00- 4:00 pm- The stand is open for business and students will switch out times to work. Donations will be encouraged and students will hand out flyers that were made to advertise further sea turtle saving activism in the area.
4:30- 5:30 pm- The students will deliver their donations that were raised from the stand to Liam Mitchell’s laboratory and to the local animal hospital
Day 3: Wednesday
8:00 am-10:00 am- Wednesday will start off with visiting the Key West Aquarium. This visit shows the students the marine life and how to save it from becoming extinct. Thousands of tourists who come to Florida visit the aquarium each year.
11:00 am- 2:00 pm- Take a scuba diving/snorkeling trip underwater. During this exciting trip you get to see the fascinating life that exists in the sea. Throughout the tour you will see the coral reefs and other plants and animals that live underwater.
2:30 pm- 4:00 pm- The students will have a discussion on how we can protect and preserve coral reefs from going extinct.
4:30 pm- 5:30 pm- The students will take a boat ride to the coral reef to see the inflicted damage by the nitrogen run off and continue to discuss how to protect the coral reef.
Day 4: Thursday
9:00 am- 12:00 pm- Take a hike along the coast and see the beautiful things that the Florida Keys offers. This hike shows you the scenery of the Keys and the developments of the area. Throughout the hike you will also experience fabulous sites and scenic view of the majestic seas.
1:00 pm- 3:00 pm- Then a discussion will take place where we will talk about.
Day 5: Friday
9:00 am- 10:45 am- Studying Weather Patterns in Florida Keys. Each student will learn about the weather patterns in Florida Keys by meeting with an expert and studying the weather patterns themselves. They will observe different weather patterns that have occurred throughout the years and use them to make predictions.
11:00 am- 12:00 pm- Measuring and Analyzing Wind Patterns and Water Currents. Students will learn about the wind and water currents in the Florida Keys. How currents are forms, what factors can change them, and how hurricanes can threaten the Keys are all examples.
12:30 am- 1:30 pm- Discuss sources of Pollution. Students will learn about pollution in the Florida Keys and where it’s coming from.
2:00 pm- 4:00 pm- Experiment to Determine Pollution in Water. With the students previously acquired knowledge, they will perform an experiment to determine different levels of pollution in the water and hypothesize where it’s coming from.
Day 6: Saturday
9:00 am- 10:20 am- Discuss effects of Pollution. Students will discuss their hypothesis with each other and the relations between them. They will then learn about why the water is as polluted or not as polluted as it is.
11:00 am- 1:00 pm- Cleaning up Beach. Students will volunteer to help clean up beaches in the Florida Keys.
1:30 pm- 2:15 pm- Discuss how to Further Help Environment. Students will come up with a plan to help the Florida Keys environment.
2:30- 4:00 pm- Raising Awareness. Students come up with different ways to help others understand about pollution in the Florida Keys and how help stop it.
Day 7: Sunday
9:00 am- 11:00 am: Take a boat ride along the coast. Students will then discuss the effects that are occurring with pollution in the ocean. This discussion will later lead to testing the water once again so as to raise awareness of the natural levels of the water and what the levels actually are, due to pollution.

10:00 am- 11:30 am: The students will review the tour and the activities. They will also think of ways to save the environment and species from dying off in the future. The students will each receive gift bundles for all of their help and say good bye as they head for their departure.
